Foundation Honors Veterans at Wreaths Across America Event
Miramar National Cemetery Support Foundation Vice President Charlie Inot and Secretary Sallay Kim participated in the Wreaths Across America event, Dec. 15, to honor veterans buried at Miramar National Cemetery.
Inot and Kim, both Army veterans, paid tribute to Army Sgt. Charles Schroeter, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for gallantry during the Indian Wars in 1869. Sgt. Schroeter’s remains are buried in Section 3, grave 1052.
Inot, a Vietnam veteran who served in Special Forces, also laid a wreath at the monument honoring the Special Forces Regiment. Kim, a former Army Jumpmaster, and her husband, Tae, a former Army Paratrooper, laid a wreath at the monument to U.S. Paratroopers. The monuments are located on the cemetery’s Memorial Walk.
The Foundation hosts annual events on Memorial Day weekend and on Veterans Day, and has funded and sponsored such enhancements to the cemetery as the Avenue of Flags and the Veterans Tribute Tower & Carillon.
