Foundation Kicks Off 2019 Virtual Gala to benefit Miramar National Cemetery
(July 1, 2019) With the success of fund drives for the unique Avenue of Flags, the Veterans Tribute Tower & Carillon, and other projects, the Miramar National Cemetery Support Foundation is dedicating its 2019 Virtual Gala – launched July 1 – toward donations for construction of a large amphitheater at Miramar National Cemetery.
The amphitheater, planned for the Flag Circle – the focal point of the cemetery – will include permanent seating for audiences attending the Veterans Memorial Service, Veterans’ Day ceremony, Wreaths Across America, and other events.
“The amphitheater will be the largest, and most costly, undertaking the Foundation has made to enhance the cemetery,” says Sallay Kim, Foundation Vice-President and chair of the fourth annual Virtual Gala. “It will benefit Veterans, active duty members, and their families. We hope the public will generously support this year’s fund-raiser.”
As a Virtual Gala, contributors can participate without dressing up to attend an actual event. “No driving to a distant location,” says Kim, “and no chicken dinner!”
Visitors to the Foundation’s website at www.miramarcemetery.org will find a link to the Virtual Gala on the website home page. Individual, family, or corporate donations are accepted, or donors can sponsor a virtual table.
Kim also notes that the Foundation won’t be on the hook for such overhead expenses as a venue, audio equipment, entertainment, food or drinks. Every cent donated will go directly to fund projects and activities at the cemetery.
Donations may be addressed to Miramar National Cemetery Support Foundation, c/o 2500 6th Ave., Unit 803, San Diego, CA 92103. The Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) organization, and a 509 (c)(1) public charity. Tax ID #65-1277308.
