Veterans Tribute Tower & Carillon.

Veterans, active duty service members, and members of the public are invited to attend a late afternoon commemorative service on Veterans’ Day, Saturday, Nov. 11, at Miramar National Cemetery.

Congressman Scott Peters (D-52) of San Diego will be the guest speaker.  The service will begin at 4:15 p.m. on the lawn at the foot of the Veterans Tribute Tower & Carillon on the north side of the cemetery.

The service will feature patriotic music played by the Carillon, and will conclude at about 5 p.m. with a rendition of “Taps”.  The Carillon plays the traditional bugle call at the close of each day at the cemetery.

The Veterans’ Day service is sponsored by the Miramar National Cemetery Support Foundation, and is coordinated by the Director and staff of the Miramar National Cemetery.

Catherine Fiorelli, Foundation President and CEO, will welcome guests to the Veterans’ Day service.  Cemetery Director Rex Kern also will offer remarks. Guests are asked to bring their own lawn chairs for seating.  No other seating will be provided for this brief ceremony.

The Tribute Tower & Carillon will mark a year since its dedication on Veterans’ Day 2016. The Tower is specially dedicated to soldiers of the U.S. 3rd Infantry Division who fought in the June, 1953, Battle of Outpost Harry during the Korean War, and also honors veterans of all U.S. military services.

Miramar National Cemetery is located at 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, between Interstate 805 and Miramar Road west of the Marine Corps Air Station. Free public parking will be available on cemetery streets.
