This tower stands as a lasting tribute to all American veterans and to the valiant defenders of Outpost Harry.
And to our honored dead who have paid the ultimate price to preserve the freedoms of this great Republic.

Inscription on the Tower memorial pedestal plaque

This carillon honors the brave soldiers of the U.S. 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division who were engaged in combat operations during the Korean War.

In June 1953, the 15th Infantry Regiment was deployed along a vital frontline sector of the Iron Triangle.  On a small fortified hilltop names Outpost Harry, the infantry companies were ordered to “hold at all costs.”

For eight days numerically superior enemy forces repeatedly assaulted the hill and were repulsed.  Only acts of extraordinary heroism and sacrifice held the position.

Including depictions of:  U.S. 3rd Infantry Division badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, U.S. 15th Infantry Regiment badge.
