Melinda Baccanari has a background in education, publishing, and marketing. A retired English teacher, she previously spent nearly two decades in the publishing and marketing business, holding leadership roles in editorial management, advertising, and promotions.
As the spouse of a retired Navy Captain, Melinda has been immersed in the military community since 1996. During her husband’s assignment as a flight instructor in Pensacola, Fla., she worked with Scuba Times Magazine, managing advertising accounts and serving as the editor of Belize Magazine. Following a relocation to Ventura County, Calif., she became the Promotions Manager for Sage Publications, a leading academic publisher. Later, she was hired by the Affinity Group to market financial products and then advanced to Managing Editor, overseeing a portfolio of RV travel magazines.
Shortly after their son was born, the family relocated to San Diego, Calif., where Melinda launched a marketing and freelance business, specializing in education and travel-related clients. Her diverse career reflects her commitment to communication, leadership, and service.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from California State University, San Marcos, and an MBA from California Lutheran University.
In her continued support of veterans, her volunteer activities have included participation in military-focused charities such as “Operation Courage is Beautiful” and “United Through Reading.”
