Lee Jacobs

Colonel Lee Jacobs is retired from the U.S. Army, as well as a retired U.S. Customs Criminal Investigator. In 1979, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps, and served on active duty for four years as a Combat Engineer Officer.

He was commissioned as a Captain in the U.S. Army in 1985 and attended the Army Special Forces Qualification Course. For the next 24 years, he served in numerous active duty and reserve Special Forces assignments with 12th Special Forces Group (reserve), 5th SFG, and the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). He commanded at the Operational Detachment and Company level. Lee served overseas in in various assignments, including at the U.S. Embassy in the Kingdom of Thailand where he managed U.S. training and support to Thai criminal investigative and paramilitary units involved in counter narcotic activities. Other abroad assignments included the 5th Special Forces Group Headquarters, Baghdad, as a joint staff planner, and in Afghanistan as the lead advisor to the Afghan Counter  Terrorism Police Directorate where he was tasked with the mitigation of IED and foreign fighter networks. After attending the U.S. Army Psychological Operations Officer Course, he took command of the 301st Tactical Psychological Operations Company and was deployed to Haiti in support of the United Nations Missions.

Lee’s wife, Lisa, is the daughter of retired Rear Admiral Gerald E. Thomas, who also served as the U.S. Ambassador to Guyana and Kenya. Lee’s father, Morton Jacobs, served with the American/Canadian First Special Service Force in WWII. He is interred at Miramar National Cemetery. Lee lives with his wife Lisa in Poway, CA; they have four adult children and three grandchildren.
