Taiga Takahashi is a second-generation Japanese American and a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy. He is an attorney that provides legal counsel regarding land use, real estate, and administrative law and issues, in both litigation and transactional matters. After starting his legal career at Latham & Watkins LLP, he has returned to public service as an associate counsel with the U.S. Navy Office of the General Counsel.
His pro bono legal representation has included work for the National Veterans Legal Services Program, the American Civil Liberties Union, and The Ocean Cleanup. He also serves on the board of the San Diego Chapter of the Japanese-American Citizens League.
Prior to becoming an attorney, he also worked as a consultant for San Diego Coastkeeper and the ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties, as well as a law clerk for Earthjustice and the U.S. Department of Justice. While on active duty, Taiga was a division officer (Surface Warfare) aboard a guided-missile destroyer and deployed in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, and Noble Eagle. On reserve duty, he served as a staff officer for Third Fleet and Pacific Fleet.
